Vivo’s naming scheme is the most perplexing of any BBK Group brand. It’s nearly impossible to keep track unless you closely follow their releases. In China, for example, Vivo discontinued the Vivo Y76s. And two weeks later, the mid-range 5G phone was re-released in the same market as the Vivo Y74s 5G (the ‘why is a mystery.)

The Y74s offers nothing new in terms of design or specs because it is simply a renamed Y76s. The MediaTek Dimensity 810 is the engine that powers the Vivo mobile Y21’s new sibling. It’s a chip design that uses very little power. 8GB of memory allows for multitasking. You can choose between 128GB and 256GB of storage. This hardware is powered by Vivo’s reimagined OriginOS.
Vivo chose a recycled look for the design. The display on the Vivo Y74s is notched and bezel-heavy. It’s a 6.58″ IPS LCD with a 1080P resolution, a low contrast ratio, and a touch sampling rate of 180Hz. The fingerprint scanner and the concave power button have been combined (a subtle but welcome design choice.)

The latest Vivo 5G smartphone weighs 175g. It also has a 7.79mm thick chassis. It has a 3.5mm audio jack as well as a USB-C port. The Vivo Y74s are also available in Galaxy Blue, Starry Night Black, and Star Diamond colors.
Inside the phone’s accented camera plate are two lenses and an LED flash. It has 50MP wide and 2MP macro sensors. The front-facing 8MP camera is also unremarkable.
Finally, everything is powered by a 4100 mAh battery and powerful 44W supercharging. Storage can be expanded up to 1TB. The Vivo Y74s is priced at CNY 2,300 (Rs. 63,000).
