Vivo appears to be releasing a new Y-series phone every other day. The latest in this line of low-cost phones is the Y54s, a follow-up to the Vivo Y53s, which is already available in Pakistan. It was unveiled yesterday in China, where it is now on the market. The Vivo Y54s is a typical entry-level phone, with the exception that it supports 5G networks.

The Vivo Y54s 5G, like many of these low-cost phones, has a mediocre display. We’re looking at a 6.51″ IPS LCD screen with a notch. It has a maximum resolution of 720P and a low refresh rate. The specifications are a step down from the Y53s 5G, which debuted this year with a 1080P and 90Hz display.
The camera system is unremarkable as well. On the back of the Vivo Y54s 5G, there are two cameras: one 13MP wide and one 2MP portrait. A modest 8MP selfie camera is housed within the notch. It’s laid out in a ‘cyclops eye’ pattern on a raised squarish plate.

Vivo phone prices are well-balanced, providing good value for money. Despite being a 5G handset, the Y54’s shell is still plastic, rounded, and flat. It has a thickness of 8.5mm and a weight of 188g. A 3.5mm audio jack and a side-facing thumbprint reader are included in the frame. Face Unlock is also an option (but the 2D kind, not advanced 3D.) You can select between duotone blue and graphite shades.
The Vivo Y54s is powered by a MediaTek Helio Dimensity 700 engine. It is based on a 7nm process node, which increases its efficiency. It comes with 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage and 6GB of memory from Vivo. Everything is powered by a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. The Vivo Y54s is priced at PKR 46,000.
