According to The Elec, a Korean website, Apple is choosing for OLED screens with O-hole cuts, citing display suppliers. These Super Retina OLED screens are made by Samsung for Apple. And the South Korean tech behemoth has been amassing the necessary technology to laser etch the hole punches.
Samsung can use a technology known as ‘Hole in Active Area,’ or HIAA, with the new equipment. It’s a laser-based technology that drills precise holes in OLED screens that are made of plastic rather than glass. Samsung’s OLED screens are ‘flexible’ due to their plastic composition.

It’s also worth noting that this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the revamp. Jon Prosser, a well-known industry leader, leaked information on the iPhone 14 before the iPhone 13 was even released. A pin-hole for the front camera and a bump-free camera cluster is also seen in his mockups.
Mr. Prosser believes the iPhone 14 will keep the FaceID security feature that Apple has introduced this year. However, the FaceID sensor array has been relocated underneath the screen. Bringing back TouchID would be an easier solution (which some sources point to.) In the next months, we’ll discover more.
